Chainlink Backs New OUSD Stablecoin as $1 Billion Liquidity Push Goes Live Across Four Blockchains
Open Standard launches the Open USD stablecoin with over $1 billion in reserves, featuring Chainlink as an official oracle partner and support from major financial companies including Stripe, Visa, and Mastercard.

Open Standard has rolled out Open USD (OUSD), a fresh stablecoin backed by over $1 billion in committed short-term reserves alongside Chainlink as an official oracle partner. OUSD debuts initially on the Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo blockchains, among others, while integrating financial and payment services from other major companies.
Corporations can access OUSD through integrations with Mastercard, Visa, Stripe, and Coinbase. APIs and further integrations let businesses exchange U.S. dollars for OUSD and vice versa at a 1:1 ratio, offering fee-free minting and redemption for the stablecoin.
At launch, BVNK, Stripe, and the Visa Stablecoin Platform are accessible. Support from Coinbase becomes available on October 1. Additional early trading venues featuring the stablecoin include Coinbase, Uniswap, and Kraken.
Bridge Building Inc., a subsidiary of Stripe, currently handles the minting of OUSD. Open Standard states that BNY, Lead Bank, and BlackRock maintain the stablecoin reserves for OUSD. According to Open Standard, Bridge will issue monthly attestations concerning the stablecoin reserves.
Stripe and Bridge supply payment and financial infrastructure services, encompassing wallet capabilities, payment functions, and fiat and currency on- and off-ramps. Mastercard has formed a partnership with BVNK. Visa introduced OUSD via its own Stablecoin Platform, which currently operates in beta and is accessible to select users in specific regions.
Chainlink was chosen to serve as an official oracle partner for Open USD. The Chainlink network is built to supply data to blockchain projects, including market details required by smart contracts.
This technology enables the integration of OUSD with additional markets and offerings, such as margin trading, lending, automated market makers, and yield farming products.

Aave Labs has proposed a potential use case for OUSD within a decentralized finance application, encompassing OUSD support on the Aave V3 Ethereum platform as well as the Aave V4 Core Hub. Under this proposed use case, participants can borrow and deposit OUSD, though they cannot utilize OUSD as collateral.
Enhanced loan-to-value limits and additional collateral improvements might be introduced later, dependent on further onchain data. The proposal specified that the oracle design remains unfinished and that alternative risk parameters will be established after community feedback is gathered and Chainlink product feeds for the production network go live.
The five founding members of Open Standard comprise Shopify, Stripe, Visa, Coinbase, and Mastercard. These entities are investors in Open Standard and supply auxiliary support to help the organization secure upward of $1 billion in starting trading capital.
Open Standard reports that its partner network encompasses over 200 multinational corporations, banks, fintechs, and financial institutions. Seuritize has entered the OUSD network and plans to deliver OUSD services through its tokenization platform.

The project grants rewards to partners based on OUSD supply levels and activity across partner platforms. Bridge has secured preliminary conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish the Bridge National Trust Bank located in New York.
The approved bank is not yet operational. Final authorization from the regulator depends on fulfilling remaining pre-opening requirements.
