Wormhole Crypto Jumps 30%: HYPE Integration Sparks Rally as $875K Token Unlock Looms
Wormhole crypto jumped 30% following the re-promotion of its Hyperliquid integration, while traders also price in an upcoming token unlock of 50.4 million W.

Wormhole crypto is back on traders’ radars. W has gained roughly 30% over the past week, and more than 20% of that move occurred during the latest 24-hour surge. Volume has picked up as well, bolstering the rally compared to the typical illiquid bounce.
The timing is hard to ignore. On October 2, Wormhole re-promoted its earlier Hyperliquid integration. In early September, the HYPE token went multichain using the Native Token Transfers framework.
A supply event is also looming, with roughly 50.4 million W (worth around $920,000 at recent prices) set to unlock around October 16. That provides traders with two very different things to price in. One is a genuine adoption story around Wormhole’s infrastructure, and the other is more token supply about to become transferable as Wormhole crypto is trying to break out of a long slump.

What Is Wormhole Crypto?
W is the native token of Wormhole, a protocol connecting more than 40 blockchain networks. The platform bridges DeFi ecosystems through its multiple products, including:
- Portal
- Cross-chain messaging
- Queries
- Native Token Transfers
Wormhole crypto is used throughout the platform for governance, staking, incentives and other functions. W has a maximum supply of 10 billion tokens with roughly 6.6 billion currently circulating.
The basic investment case hence depends on how many other blockchains adopt Wormhole. The harder part is proving that this usefulness creates enough direct demand for W token.
Why Is Wormhole Crypto Surging?
The HYPE integration, although not technically new, is the clearest recent narrative catalyst, but it does not explain the entire move.
W had already been trading near depressed levels around $0.013-$0.015 through much of early October. Once the token started moving, volume accelerated quickly, near-tripling over 24 hours and pushing Wormhole crypto towards roughly $0.018.
That can be a self-reinforcing cycle where a recognizable catalyst draws traders in, rising volume makes the move look more credible, and momentum attracts another wave of buyers.
The HYPE integration offered W something it had been missing: a simple narrative that traders could understand immediately. Wormhole had just connected one of crypto’s most closely watched assets to several major ecosystems and that was enough to matter to one of its token’s that had spent months near its lows.
Why Does the HYPE Integration Matter?
HYPE is the native token of Hyperliquid, one of the largest and most closely followed trading ecosystems in crypto. Through Wormhole’s NTT framework, HYPE can expand beyond its original environment and move across Solana, Base and Unichain.
NTT is different than the older bridge model built around wrapped assets as projects can keep control of their native token standard across several networks.
That makes the integration more relevant than a routine bridge listing as Wormhole becomes part of the infrastructure that lets HYPE function across multiple ecosystems. Successful use of that infrastructure bolsters Wormhole’s claim that interoperability is becoming basic crypto plumbing.
Yet infrastructure adoption does not necessarily equate to token demand, which remains the biggest question for Wormhole crypto.

How Does Wormhole Crypto Capture Value?
Wormhole tried to address that problem by launching W 2.0 .
The overhaul announced in September 2025 included the launch of the Wormhole Reserve alongside a plan to connect more closely protocol activity with W. It also added governance staking rewards with a targeted 4% base yield, and reshaped the token’s unlock schedule.
The long-term idea is that Wormhole should not simply process large amounts of cross-chain activity while the token sits on the sidelines. If Portal, Wormhole and other ecosystem products generate meaningful value, some of that value should feed back into the W economy.
That lends more relevance to integrations such as HYPE compared to the old tokenomics. But the connection is still indirect enough that investors should be cautious about assuming every new integration instantly increases the fair value of W.
What Does the $875K W Token Unlock Mean?
The next unlock complicates the rally.
Roughly 50.4 million W are set to unlock around October 16 while Wormhole crypto is trading near $0.0174. That puts the release at approximately $920,000. Obviously, the dollar value will change with W’s price.
When it comes to percentage terms, the unlock is not huge. It represents about 0.5% of Wormhole’s maximum supply and less than 1% of the current circulating supply.
But size is not the only issue: an unlock matters more when it comes immediately after a sharp rally as some recipients may be tempted to sell into higher prices. If momentum holds, it can be absorbed easily. But if buyers disappear first, it can become much harder to ignore.
Why Wormhole Changed Its Unlock Schedule
The upcoming release is also less dramatic when seen in context.
Wormhole changed its vesting structure under W 2.0 as it replaced large annual cliff unlocks with smaller bi-weekly releases beginning in October 2025. The goal was to smooth out supply rather than create occasional moments where huge amounts of W become transferable.
This means the October 16 event is not a surprise dump over the market, but rather part of a regular release schedule that traders can see coming.
This does not eliminate dilution but makes it more predictable.

Could the Token Unlock Kill the Rally?
By itself, probably not.
An unlock representing less than 1% of circulating supply is unlikely to overpower strong demand if volume holds. The bigger danger would be a combination of fading momentum, profit-taking and freshly unlocked W hitting the market at the same time.
That is why the reaction after the unlock may tell more than the unlock itself. If Wormhole crypto holds its gains as new supply enters circulation, buyers are clearly absorbing it. But if price weakens before October 16 and volume disappears, the release could add another layer of pressure.
Why the Wormhole Crypto Rally Could Continue
There is a real fundamental story behind the move.
Wormhole has spent the past few years positioning itself as infrastructure for multichain applications, tokenized assets, institutional finance and cross-chain liquidity. HYPE fits comfortably within that strategy and provides another recognizable asset that is using NTT.
Wormhole crypto is also still trading at a tiny fraction of its 2024 launch price as W once traded above $1.60 and has since lost roughly 99% of that value. A 30% rebound looks dramatic on a weekly chart, but barely registers on the larger one. This can attract bargain hunters, although a 99% decline is not proof that an asset is undervalued. It can also reflect dilution, weak demand and a market that no longer values the token anywhere near where it did at launch.
What Should Wormhole Investors Watch Next?
The first thing to watch is whether the new trading volume sticks around. If W falls back into its old range once the HYPE headlines fade, the rally will look much more speculative. If it consolidates at higher levels instead, that suggests buyers are willing to hold rather than simply trade the announcement.
The HYPE integration itself is also worth watching: the technical connection matters much more if people actually move and use HYPE across Solana, Base and Unichain in meaningful amounts.
Then there is the October 16 unlock. Wormhole crypto does not need to rally through it to prove strength, but simply absorbing another 50 million unlocked W without a sharp breakdown would already be a useful signal.
Is the Wormhole Crypto Rally Sustainable?
The current move is not entirely random as Wormhole has a recognizable catalyst, expanding infrastructure usage and improved tokenomics compared with its original design. These provide traders with a reason to revisit W after a long period of weak performance.
But the price is moving faster than the underlying story. Wormhole crypto has jumped roughly 30% in a week, volume has surged and another scheduled unlock is only days away. This does not make the rally fake, but the next phase will matter more than the initial breakout.
If HYPE activity grows, volume holds and W absorbs the upcoming unlock without giving back most of the move, the rally may have more room to run. But if interest fades as quickly as it appeared, the 30% jump could end up looking like another short-lived recovery in a token that still has a lot to prove.
FAQ
Why Is Wormhole Crypto Rising?
Wormhole crypto has gained roughly 30% over the past week as trading volume increased and traders reacted to HYPE’s expansion across Solana, Base and Unichain through Wormhole NTT.
What Is the HYPE Wormhole Integration?
The integration allows Hyperliquid’s HYPE token to operate across several blockchain ecosystems through Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers framework rather than using a conventional wrapped-token bridge.
How Much W Is Being Unlocked?
Approximately 50.4 million W are set to unlock around October 16, 2026. At recent prices, that is worth roughly $875,000.
Will the Token Unlock Crash Wormhole Crypto?
Not necessarily as the unlock represents less than 1% of circulating supply. Its impact will depend on whether recipients sell, how much trading volume remains and whether demand is strong enough to absorb the new supply.
Can Wormhole Crypto Keep Rising?
It can, especially if the HYPE integration produces real usage and buyers continue supporting W after the unlock. The biggest risks are fading momentum, profit-taking and continued dilution.
